AccNoir-2011-04-20, Banjo Noir, the announcement! (Actual show coming next week.)
Here's the ad for our upcoming fund-raiser all banjo show. Twice a year when our Co-op Radio station has a fund-raiser we pick up another disparaged instrument for one week. Next time, maybe bag-pipes?
* Artist – Song – Album (year) – Where are they from? – Contact info if we've got it.
* Kaleidoscope – Banjo – Kaleidoscope (1969) – Los Angeles, California, USA – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaleidoscope_(US_band) [That's them at the end too.]
* Banjo Joe – My Money Never Runs Out – Good For What Ails You: Music Of The Medicine Shows 1926–1937 (1927) – http://www.oldhatrecords.com/index.html
* The Groanbox Boys – Mount Pleasant Rooftop (at Dusk) – Smokestack Trilogy (2006) – London, England – http://www.groanboxboys.com/ (with Michael Ward-Bergeman)
And for the cover image? The cover of the record "Altamont_ Black Stringband Music," which I learned about from: http://archives.nodepression.com/2002/03/the-lost-tradition-of-black-string-bands/
